Michael MenchacaPresented by Artpace San Antonio at Artpace San Antonio May 2-September 1, 2013 San Antonio-based artist Michael Menchaca’s colorful illustrations and videos draw inspiration from Pre-Colombian imagery and mythology to comment on socio-political issues surrounding the U.S.-Mexican border. For Artpace, Menchaca’s multi-dimensional Window Works installation pits El Diedad del Queso, a rat god, against Aquilas, an eagle deity.
