San Antonio Museum of Art

Originally built in 1884 as the Lone Star Brewery, the San Antonio Museum of Art is one of the most impressive art museums in Texas. Its permanent collection contains Asian Art, European and American paintings, and antiquities from the Greek and Roman era. The Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Latin American Art presents the museum’s extenisve collections of pre-Columbian art, Latin American Folk art, Spanish Colonial art, and Contemporary Latin American art.

    04/06/13- 08/18/13	Pasión Popular San Antonio Museum of Art Pasión Popular Presented by San Antonio Museum of Art at San Antonio Museum of Art April 6-August 18, 2013 Pasión Popular is comprised of approximately 200 objects, dating from the 18th century to modern times. Objects have been skillfully crafted of wood, cloth, metal, clay, tar, and stone, and their sizes vary from small to monumental. They are grouped into categories that bespeak their function, i.e. devotional, utilitarian, recreational, and decorative, and are augmented by photographs and other contextual information.

    02/14/13- 12/12/13	Art Crawl Gallery Toours for Caregivers and Babies 0-18 months San Antonio Museum of Art Art Crawl Gallery Toours for Caregivers and Babies 0-18 months Presented by San Antonio Museum of Art at San Antonio Museum of Art February 14-December 12, 2013 Moms, dads and caregivers of all sorts, put your babies in their slings and take a walk with us through the galleries. Talks are geared towards adults while art selections are chosen to engage the senses of both you and your infant. Cooing babies welcome! Each tour begins ate the Front Desk and ends with playtime and refreshments. Front-carrying baby carriers encouraged and strollers are welcome.

Join us for a variety of free programs including lectures, films, sketching and tours. Cafe des Artistes is also open until 9:00 PM to match SAMA’s extended hours.
