    Artist of the Month - Gregory Elliott

    Gregory Elliott has been making and exhibiting sculpture for the past 30 years. He holds 3 degrees including a BFA from Stephen F. Austin State University with concentrations in Commercial Art, Printmaking and Ceramics; an MA from Stephen F. Austin majoring in Ceramic Sculpture and his MFA from Southern Methodist University majoring in Sculpture. Elliott was the first Artist in residence for the Ysleta Independent School District in El Paso, Texas from 1980 to 1983 and was part of the faculty of the El Paso community college from 1983 to 1985, teaching sculpture, ceramics, drawing and design. From 1985 to1988, Elliott was a faculty member at Brookhaven College, in Dallas , Texas, teaching Ceramics and sculpture. He spent 14 years as part of the faculty at Louisiana State University (LSU) from 1988 to 2002. While at LSU he served as both the Coordinator of Graduate Studies and the Area Head of Sculpture for the Art Department. From 2002 to 2008, Elliott served as chairperson for the Department of Art at the University of Texas at El Paso. Currently, Gregory Elliott is a professor of Art and Department chairperson at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

    You can see Elliotts work at the Blue Star Contemporary Art Center March 3 – May 14. Dam The Torpedoes is an exhibition curated by Bill FitzGibbons and is part of the citywide Contemporary Art Month celebration.
